Linux Systems Administrator

Experian CheetahMail is looking for a top notch Linux Administrator.  The ideal candidate would work as part of the systems and networking group in all aspects of the day to day management of multiple data centers and network.

Primary job responsibilities are but not limited to the following:

System and capacity planning, expansion, deployment of new systems and networks, storage subsystem management, and other related tasks. Specifically, this person would regularly help to expand existing systems in record time, work with developers to deploy updates to applications and help to plan the usage of system resources efficiently, install and configure common software such as Apache and Qmail, and troubleshoot network and system issues as they arise.


Educational Requirements
- Computer science, mathematics, or electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience.

Technical Requirements

  • Significant experience and interest in Linux (preferably Debian, but RedHat, SuSE, Fedora, Ubuntu, or Gentoo are fine) administration, configuration,  and security. This is the primary job function.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols: TCP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, SMTP, DNS, NFS, etc.
  • Knowledge of networking equipment and Linux networking tools.
  • Basic understanding of programming in at least one of the following languages: perl, shell (sh, bash, csh, ksh, etc.), or C / C++.
  • Understanding of mid to large scale system deployment.
  • Knowledge of configuration management techniques or systems.
  • Understanding of system hardening and security including intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with any of the following applications and tools is a bonus: iptables, Apache, qmail, djbdns / tinydns, daemon tools, heartbeat (Linux HA project), bind, postfix, Veritas Storage Foundation, Solaris (8,9), Oracle 10g, gcc, Osiris, Tripwire, Snort, SELinux, OpenLDAP, and related tools and utilities.

They would be thorough, analytical, and interested in teaching as well as learning.
