Sr. Application Support Engineer
We are looking for Sr. Technical Support Engineers with a Unix/Linux background and knowledge of HTML, CGI, HTTP, Perl, basic system administration, networking, and DNS. As an open-source shop we develop exciting and unique solutions from the ground up and have the opportunity to understand how things work at the lowest levels and modify things to work as desired.
Primary job responsibilities are but not limited to the following:
- Coordinate with other IT resources (DBAs, UNIX Sys Admins, Developers) for shared responsibilities.
- Provide end-user support for existing applications
- Provide off-hours support via pager on rotating schedule
- Determine and correct problems in assigned sub-systems that are critical to daily operations
- Develop client specific scripts and scripts to streamline operational tasks
- Represent Operational needs in development process
- Mentor new team members
- Technical escalation point for complex issues
Educational Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Technical Requirements
- Experience debugging code written by other developers in production environments
- Knowledge of databases including intermediate SQL
- Knowledge of advanced networking and security concepts
- Excellent Unix and scripting skills using standard Perl and shell
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a customer-centric environment
- Apply in-depth technical analysis of application issues to solve customer reported problems
- Ability to relate technical information in a non-technical manner.
- Ability to analyze and grasp user's needs.
- Ability to work well within a team to learn and share knowledge.
- Experience in one or more web programming languages (Perl, PHP, Ruby, Java, etc)
- Knowledge of Apache, PGP, SSL Certs, DNS
